A Passover Greeting to you as a brother in Yeshua ha Meshiach .
Perhaps I have been so frantically busy I nearly missed Passover this year-And, I was making cornbread when I realized it. But the Passover Lamb, Yeshua, Jesus did not overlook me.
The past few weeks Bible Prophecy has been the topic I have shared with you. I was reminded of the time I taught the subject. I was told by my authority over me (Post Chaplain) that I needed to take leadership, and not allow the congregation to interject their interpretations on the teaching of the different theories on Eschatology.
Still, personally I am always digging into Bible Prophecy. There are many Old Testament Prophecies that Jesus fulfilled in his first Advent.
Here’s a quick look at just a few, but I first want to highlight the prophecy of being our Passover Lamb in John 1:29-36.
I believe that the 10 Plagues done to the Egyptians prior to, during, and the subsequent deliverance of those covered by the blood of the Passover Lamb are a prophetic type and shadow. It is a shadow of something yet future to those in the Exodus, which also is something ongoing for us.
I see a correlation of those 10 plagues and of those plagues that accompany the Seals, Trumpets, and Vial Judgements. These are either partially fulfilled in history, and yet future with the Day of the Lord. It relates to when we will look up as our Luke 21:28 Redemption comes upon us!
One of the most important prophecies of the promised Messiah was the first. Genesis 3:15:
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Fulfilled: Gal 4:4:
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”
Jesus fulfilled the prophecy that he was to be the heir to the throne of David Isaiah 9:7
Also, see Isaiah 11:1 as the “netser” BRANCH fulfilled in Matthew 2:23, being that Nazareth is the place of the “netser.”
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Fulfilled Luke 1:32-33
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”
Yeshua was prophesied to be crucified, having to be pierced through his hands and feet in Zech 12:10
This also foretells the yet future salvation of Israel as a people Romans 11:25-33:
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.“
Jesus fulfilled this Crucifixion Prophecy, having been pierced through his hands and feet in John 20:27:
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.“
My Passover Greeting to you has to do with covering of sin and prayer
I believe that the following are all interconnected with Jesus and the New Covenant prayer for us as his sheep from John 17, his trial, Crucifixion, Darkness over the world, Tearing of the Veil before the Holy Place in the Temple, Burial & Resurrection:
- Passover Feast and,
- The Feast of Unleavened Bread
- Feast of First Fruits, and
- Shavuot (Pentecost)
Psalm 68:17-18 is an amazing chapter about God’s power to lead captivity captive, receiving gifts for men:
17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”
That leads me to the next Psalm, 69:29b-36 assures us of God’s mercy, redemption, and deliverance (of David, and the sheep in Jesus’ fold) in the height of David’s zeal for God. David asks God,
Let thy salvation (Yeshuah), O God, set me up on high. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving… The humble shall see this and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. For the Lord heareth the poor, and dispiseth not his prisoners. Let the heaven and earth praise him, the sees, and every thing that moveth therin. For God will save (Yeshuah) Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. The seed also of his servants shall inherit: and they that love his name shall dwell there.”
Also, Ephesians 4:8 state:
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”
Now, Yeshua ascended unto the Father after becoming our Passover Lamb for our personal salvation. The Fall Feasts of the Lord are still yet to be fulfilled and are pictured in the Book of Revelation:
- The Feast of Trumpets
- Day of Atonement, and
- Feast Tabernacles
Until those feasts are fulfilled by Yeshua, Jesus as prophesied by the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John, Hebrews 7:25 tells us that he is performing this gift unto us as our Priest forever in the Order of Melchizedek per Psalm 110:4 :
The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”
Jesus fulfilled this blessing of a prophecy in Hebrews 5:5-6:
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”
But the pivotal fulfillment by Jesus that I want to share as a Passover blessing to you, a Good Shepherd Pastor, is found in Hebrews 7:25:
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
Happy Passover! Jesus is your Lord and Savior who is your High Priest Forever in Heaven interceding directly for you!
Just one more amazing prophecy that Jesus lovingly IS still fulfilling for us!
